Did Graeme McDowell criticize Tiger Woods? Well, read on...

After reading over his Twitter account, did Graeme McDowell criticize Tiger Woods? I don’t think so, but others may disagree. It seems that Graeme was just trying to explain the life of a superstar that he admires and is falling to the wayside lately. But words always have a way to be interpreted in many, many different ways through the grapevine of the press. See for yourself:

“He’s lost that sort of force field of invincibility around him. The aura is not as strong. He’s still Tiger Woods, still the greatest player ever in my opinion.

“I don’t remember the first time I played with him but there was a real ‘wow’ factor. He was playing a different sport than me. But guys get older, stuff happens.”(read more here)

That didn’t sound so bad. How could everybody breath negative out of that. He went on to say more:

“(Younger players) are not out there believing he is unbeatable because the positive press that happened for 10 years has been replaced with some negativity. And there are so many great young players now, it’s not just one-offs (of a player here or there). There are 10s and 20s of these guys. There’s a belief level now that you can be 19, 20, 21 and capable of doing it at the biggest level.”

That led to a furry of facebook postings and Tweets that would last quite a while. There will be this fighting over the Tiger for many more years to pass so get used to it. Graeme of course had to respond to it all, several times:

Most believe the aura of the TW his hit its peak and is on the decline. But rest assured that there is more left in this player to shine and fade a few more times before his time in the limelight will expire.

tiger has lost his edge . you almost see it every time he plays . I believe he know it , but uses his back as excuses because he doesn’t won’t to concede . I mean who can blame him , but to say that Mc Dowell is a sob for telling it like he sees it , because a lot of us see it too , is childish and far as i’m concerned their not real fans of golf . just spectators , that’s all .

Couldn’t agree more Randall, I do think Tiger is the greatest player golf has ever seen, buy I do like Graeme for being a straight shooter. There is no need for him to apologize for anything he said.
